The Director, Sales and Operations Optimization is a key leadership position, reporting directly to the VP of Supply Chain. This position will require an experienced S&OP / SIOP (Sales, Inventory and Operational Planning) leader able to facilitate and drive results in a fast paced and demanding growth environment, leveraging his/her strong interpersonal and leadership skills.


This role will be challenged to build and implement a world class Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning process across the enterprise to improve customer satisfaction, profitability, inventory turns and working capital.Key to success in this position is the ability to develop, lead and execute the business’s S&OP strategy, yielding improved value/experience for customers and enhanced revenue/margin growth for the business.


Sales & Operational Planning Process (S & OP)- 35% of the time


Execute all facets of the S&OP process to provide an optimum customer service level and working capital performance as defined by the organization’s business operating plans and strategic objectives.
Partner with the marketing and sales, to ensure the demand consensus process delivers an agreed upon, workable volume forecast (mid and long term); ensure gaps and overlaps are addressed, scenarios are completed and issues appropriately escalated to meet business objectives.
Collaborate with Product Mgmt, Marketing, Sales, Eng, Support, Logistics, Supply Chain, Finance to ensure that the appropriate data is available and accurate to be reviewed at the S&OP process meetings and establish company’s Supply plan.
Lead the S&OP management reviews, prepare all data and metrics for review, identify gaps and scenarios that must be presented, guide final decision making on open items and trade-offs, and prepare escalations for executive review where appropriate.
Create the S&OP minutes, communicate key conclusion to stakeholders and perform follow up of the actions.
As integral part of company’s key business process systems’ selection, implementation, and execution, document and share “best practice” methods, processes and ideas across the business’s supply chain operations to drive continuous improvements in all aspects of business operations.
Ensure visibility to capacity constraints via S&OP tools
Maintain an underutilized asset list(raw material/equipment) and facilitate action to drive improvement.
Develop mid and long range (> 1year) strategic capacity plans including CAPEX recommendations
Ensure Supply Chain management has visibility to supply plan - understanding potential raw material needs and harvest impacts
Facilitate vision setting for entire S&OP process for CFG
Manage and lead Forecast analyst and Supply Chain analyst roles. Ensure their activities are aligned in supporting overall supply chain and S&OP vision.


Master Production Planning/Inventory Management- 30% of the time


Understand market implications to recommend inventory strategies i.e. inventory builds on low markets etc.
Facilitate analysis, decision making, and execution of strategic inventory targets
Ensure sku level inventory targets - includes understanding warehousing capacity and cost implications
Define process and create schedule for seasonal/strategic forecasting, while understanding and considering the idiosyncracies of various product categories. 
Establish 3PL storage inventory forecast and provide sku offsite storage strategic direction
Recommend and maintain optimal inventory levels at various stages in the supply chain in order to achieve customer satisfaction levels as well as mitigate inventory exposure.
Assist in quantifying and defining scope for capacity, resource, logistics, and supply chain planning.


Primal Stategy Development and Execution- 25% of the time


Develop and execute on a primal optimization plan
Participate in carcass/primal level profitability decisions and provid direction to organization based on analysis.
Provide direction to pricing team regarding margin targets based on availability and/or capacity, etc.
Evaluate margins and trends to identify opportunities to influence sales strategy
Provide guidance to Procurement with regards to co-packer trade offs and raw material/capacity needs as it relates to profitability
Ensure complete organizational performance/profitability is considered when making pricing and/or capacity decisoins. (Fresh vs. Processed, Sales vs Operations).


Team CFG- 10% of the time


Participate in area celebrations to recognize achievement of key milestones/accomplishments.
Serve as liaison for supply chain for customers and organization.
Market/economic advisor for outside areas and new team members
Participate in panel interviews for positions outside of area.
Challenge status quo across organization.

Position Qualifications


Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B.S.) required. Advanced degree (MBA) preferred.
10 Years + Supply Chain Leadership experience
Prior experience in customer facing positions preferred
Excellent written/verbal communication/presentation skills
Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to function at a high level within a team environment
Ability to work independently and with individuals from multiple disciplines and with varying levels of experience
  Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment where change and growth are part of the culture
Strong MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills (proficiency in MS Access a plus)
Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail
