    The Automation Engineer oversees maintenance & updates of all PLC-based controls for complex processing, utilities, & automated warehousing systems to include components such as HMI’s, servo drives, vision systems, and network communications systems. Supervise two Controls Technicians & help plan work for up to twelve Electronics Technicians.  Serve as plant point of contact for all Automation & Electrical concerns.  Coordinate contractors to perform predictive maintenance on plant electrical systems.  Manage software & firmware updates and licenses.

    Preferred Skills & Experience:

    • Siemens PLCs- Structured Text & Functional Block Programming
    • Allen-Bradley PLCs- RSLogix 5000 Ladder Logic & Structured Text Programming
    • Communication Protocols: Ethernet, Smartwire, ProfiNet, &BackNet
    • SEW & AB Servo Drives
    • AB, ABB, SEW, & Siemens VFDs
    • Cognex Vision Systems
    • Ignition & Wonderware SCADA Systems
    • Ability to troubleshoot, quickly diagnose issues, make program changes, and track program changes.
    • Work with OEM Tech Support to diagnose & correct issues
    • Supervision & Project Management
    • 3 Years experience in Industrial Automation in a fast-paced Food Manufacturing or Pharmaceutical Environment


    Preferred Education:

    • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology. May accept A.A.S with extensive experience in similar role.

    Additional Requirements:

    • Be on-call weekends & nights for emergency issues. Plant currently runs one shift of production.
    • Access to internet for VPN access to plant systems for emergency troubleshooting.
