We have an exciting opportunity for a Livestock Business Manager in Coldwater, Michigan!

     

    This role will be in charge of building relationships, creating future strategies, & negotiating contracts for the supply of our hogs. In addition, this position assists with the efficiency of the plant by managing and troubleshooting the flow of hogs to the facility each day and driving improvement throughout the system by collaborating with the CFG management team.

    Responsibilities

    • Developing a hog supply pipeline of potential new producers
    • Spot procuring loads of hogs to fill in gaps in daily/weekly targets
    • Maintain knowledge and awareness of hog pricing markets and competitor programs to ensure competitiveness and strategize for future growth
    • Work with hog scheduler to communicate and troubleshoot load plans with suppliers
    • Communicating and overseeing compliance and execution of hog pricing and hog payment
    • Assist in generation of new pricing structures
    • Communicate upcoming harvest plans to Suppliers
    • Track meat quality issue action plans communicate all Clemens Food Group guidelines to Suppliers
    • Monitor meat quality testing results, and key plant data and communicate to existing suppliers
    • Drive improvement of key plant metrics through supplier communication and corrective actions
    • Develop processes and guidelines to better establish Supplier standards
    • Participate in annual hog supplier audits to ensure compliance with company guidelines
    • Oversee efficiency of yard area at the plant and create solutions to improve performance
    • Work with plant Operations and Management to improve overall system value through collaborative problem solving
    • Attend conferences and industry events to network with potential producers and acquire market intelligence
    • Attend local fairs/events and support key partners

    Qualifications

     

    4 year degree from an accreditted college and/or university or an equivalent combination of work experience and education

    3-5 years related Agricultural industry experience preferred

    Intermittent need to travel 20-40% of time
