    Responsibilities

    SUMMARY

    This position is responsible for the maintenance and mechanical duties necessary to keep the plant machinery running smoothly and efficiently.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:

    • This position requires one who is multi-task oriented and a team player.
    • Responds to machinery breakdowns.
    • Must possess the ability to trouble shoot machinery.
    • Must possess the ability to perform general repairs as well as basic electrical, plumbing, and refrigeration, and welding.
    • Performs preventative maintenance.
    • Keeps the shop and tools neat and organized.
    • Must observe departmental safety procedures.
    • Must follow departmental cross-contamination guidelines.
    • Other duties may be assigned.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

     

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of radiation; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
