    Responsibilities

    Summary        

    The primary purpose of this position is to supervise, provide leadership to and perform hands on maintenance while guiding the Refrigeration and Boiler Teams at Clemens Food Group in Coldwater, MI.                                        

     

     

    The job responsibilities are:

    • Follows department guidelines with regard to employee, hygiene and product safety.
    • Must be able to work in close proximity to and cooperate with other employees within the maintenance department.
    • Must be able to work fluctuating hours and weekends as required to meet production and maintenance needs.
    • Must know how to trouble shoot problems that might arise.
    • Adheres to all safety rules, QA guidelines, PPE policies, and if applicable, RTE procedures.
    • Follows HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) guidelines, departmental cross-contamination guidelines.
    • Must maintain a neat and clean work environment at all times.
    • Must immediately stop and correct employees when a safety, quality or company violation is observed.
    • Other duties as necessitated by change or by direction of management.
    • Being on call as needed.
    • Manage team including schedules, time and attendance, staffing open positions and corrective actions.
    • Maintains and monitors labor and materials; monitor productivity ensuring Company guidelines and protocols are met.
    • Manages financial performance by controlling costs, budgeting, business and financial planning and tracking financial activity.
    • Oversee training of new employees to familiarize them with HQM policies and procedures.
    • Ensures all equipment and machinery are accounted for and properly maintained.
    • Oversee all capital projects related to refrigeration: scope, cost, timelines.
    • Oversee PSM/RMP compliance and enforcement.
    • Coordinate with the safety department on Emergency Response.

    Qualifications

    Education and/or Experience                        

    Bachelor's degree (B. A.or B.S.) from four-year college or university; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    Facilities and Maintenance Specific Education/Experience

    Working knowledge of: Mechanical, Electro Mechanical, Electronics, and Frick Controlled Equipment. Must possess knowledge of the fundamentals & applications to include electricity, electronics, Ammonia systems, HVAC, pneumatic and mechanical repair of  machinery and  equipment, pipe-fitting, instrumentation, controllers, PLC's,  precision alignment, mechanical systems and pumps. Must have the ability to direct work in installing, repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining all electrical & mechanical equipment. Confers with other department supervisors to coordinate activities of individual department needs. Skills in fault diagnosis to component level- including the use of test equipment. Knowledge of fabrication and installation of parts. Demonstrate the ability to communicate engineering concepts to non-technical personnel.

     

     

    Language Skills      

    Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. 

     

     

    Mathematical Skills  

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

     

           Reasoning Ability

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

     

    Computer Skills 

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of Office software and Payroll systems (correcting punch times).

     

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    Power Industrial Truck Certification

    Fire Extinguisher certification

    Supervisors Orientation

    OSHA Emergency Response Training and up to date refresher training.

    Ammonia System Operator Training
